What is a vibrator
A vibrator as its name suggests is basically any toy with a motor that vibrates. Some look like dildos and people are confused by that. Some are battery operated, some plug into an electrical source and some are battery rechargeable. Battery rechargeable vibrators are more portable and available in a huge and sometimes confusing range of colours shapes and styles and they can usually be used both externally and internally. Most have a variable speed control and several other features such as pulsating and escalating vibration.   Vibrators, like dildos may be "representational" ie they look like a penis or abstract and innovative in design.It's totally up to you which "turns you on"!
 
Questions to ask yourself before choosing a vibrator as your toy

• Do you want something that will vibrate, or not?
• Do you want a toy just for external stimulation?
• Do you want a toy mainly for internal stimulation/penetration as well?
• Do you need something that is very quiet (nosy neighbours, kids,
  thin walls)?
• Do you need a toy that is easily transportable?
• Is there a specific kind of play that you like?
• What kind of colour /texture turns you on? It doesn't change the way it feels but if the colour turn's you off it's a problem.
• Do you find "cute" animal/star sign/vibrators a turn- on or just ridiculous? 

Types of vibrators:

• Plug in vibrators: Electric vibrators are generally heavier than battery powered ones but you will at least be sure that they won't let you down at the "critical moment". These are similar to the kind used for all over body massage such as the Hitachi Magic Wand.
• Battery powered vibrators may have either internal or external battery packs. External ones, such as the Downunder Products Ultra 7 motor,  are easier to manipulate while in use but some people don't like the cord and pack.
