Shopping Advice or a beginners guide to buying sex toys
A beginners guide to shopping for erotic toys:
If this is your first time buying a dildo or dildo shaped vibrator you may well be wondering how on earth to choose a size that won't leave disappointed or gaping in horror at the prospect of it fitting into any part of your anatomy. A basic rule of thumb (or something like that anyway!) is:
One size DOESN'T fit all and bigger isn't always better!
Sizing a dildo:
If you have a male partner, you have a convenient size reference in the form of his penis. Measure him, and use that for a basis on what size to get. If you don't have a reference cock handy, and you don't have any toys already to use for a guide we recommend starting smaller and working your way up.
Sizing a butt-plug:
When it comes to butt-plugs and anal toys in general unless you have experience in anal play it's definately better to start smaller and work towards expanding your umm repertoire!
Shape:
There's a whole world of shapes out there from realistic to semi-realisitic and totally abstract. For starters you need to think about how you want to use your toy- do you want something for penetration or for external (clitoral stimulation). Do you want a toy that looks this rocket or penis shaped? Do you want to stimulate a specific area such as your G-spot or prostate? As a general guide start simple and once you have an idea of how that feels start to add in toys with bumps and bubbles and more fantastical shapes!
Firmness:
Decide if you want a toy that is rigid such as those made from glass, styrene and plastic or one that is relatively flexible. Neither one is better or worse than the other and you may feel like using one or the other depending on your mood and the situation. Eventually you will build up a toybox that can accomodate your different sexual moods and allows you to spontaneosly choose the firmness, shape, texture etc of the toy you are in the mood for. Silicone is the material we are most keen to recommend but even then there are several types of silcone used by different toy manufacturers and it can vary from squishy and bendy to firmer and only moderately flexible.
